Nguồn: Đề thi thật VSTEP B1 (12/2019 – 12/2020)

1. Do you like celebrations?

Yes, I really enjoy celebrations. I think they are a great time to get together with my family and friends. Celebrations make me feel happy and excited. I always look forward to holidays.

2. What is your favorite festival?

My favorite festival is Tet, which is the Vietnamese New Year. During Tet, my whole family comes together to eat traditional food like bánh chưng. Children receive lucky money, and everyone is happy. It is the most special time of the year for me.

3. Are there many celebrations in your hometown?

Yes, there are quite a few celebrations in my hometown. Besides Tet, we also have the Mid-Autumn Festival, National Day, and some local festivals. People in my hometown really enjoy celebrating and they always prepare carefully for every event.

4. What do you usually celebrate?

I usually celebrate Tet, birthdays, and Teacher’s Day. On Tet, I visit my grandparents and enjoy family meals. On birthdays, I have a small party with my friends. On Teacher’s Day, I give flowers to my teachers to show my gratitude.

1. Are there many museums in your hometown?

There are about two or three museums in my hometown. The biggest one is the city museum, which has many historical artifacts. It is not very big, but I think it is interesting and worth visiting.

2. Do you think museums are useful for visitors?

Yes, I think museums are very useful for visitors. They help visitors learn about the history and culture of a place. For example, when tourists visit the Vietnam History Museum, they can understand more about Vietnamese traditions and the country’s past.

3. Do you often visit museums?

To be honest, I don’t visit museums very often. I usually go about once or twice a year, usually when my school organizes a field trip. However, every time I go, I learn something new and feel more interested in history.

4. Did you go to museums as a child?

Yes, when I was a child, my parents took me to the museum every summer. I remember feeling very curious about the old objects and pictures. Those visits helped me develop a love for learning about the past.

You are having a birthday party and your friends are invited. Where is the best place: at home, at a restaurant, or in a park?

I would choose a restaurant for my birthday party. I think it is the best place to celebrate with my friends.

The first reason is that a restaurant is very convenient. We don’t need to cook food or clean up after the party. The restaurant will prepare everything for us — from the food to the drinks and decorations. So we can just enjoy the party and have a good time.

The second reason is that restaurants usually have delicious food and a nice atmosphere. We can choose from many dishes, and there is enough space for everyone to sit and talk. Besides, we can also take nice photos at the restaurant to keep as memories.

I would not choose having a party at home because my house is not big enough for many friends. I would also have to cook and clean, which is very tiring. As for a park, the weather might be bad — if it rains, the whole plan will be ruined. Also, there are no tables and chairs in the park.

In short, a restaurant is the best option because it is convenient, comfortable, and everyone can enjoy the food and the party.

Studying abroad brings many benefits: enhance knowledge and experience, promote career prospects, foster personal growth, develop a wider network.

Today, I would like to talk about why studying abroad brings many benefits. I strongly agree with this idea, and I have several reasons.

Firstly, studying abroad helps students enhance their knowledge and experience. Foreign universities often have advanced programs and modern facilities. Students can learn from experienced professors and use the latest technology. This helps them gain high-quality education that they may not find at home.

Secondly, studying abroad can promote career prospects. When students graduate from a foreign university, they have an international degree. This helps them stand out when they apply for jobs. Many companies prefer to hire people who have studied overseas because they have more experience and skills.

Thirdly, living in another country helps foster personal growth. Students learn to be independent — they cook, clean, and manage their money by themselves. They also learn to solve problems on their own. As a result, they become more mature and confident.

Finally, studying abroad helps students develop a wider network. They meet people from many different countries and build friendships. These international connections can be very valuable for their future career and personal life.

In conclusion, I believe that studying abroad is a wonderful experience that helps young people grow in many ways.

Your friend has won 2 contests and decided to travel for 2 weeks. Write a letter about: summer weather in your country, where to go, and interesting activities.

Dear Sarah,

Congratulations on winning two contests! I’m so happy and proud of you. I heard you want to travel to Vietnam for two weeks — that’s a great idea! Let me help you plan your trip.

First, about the weather. Summer in Vietnam is very hot and humid. The temperature is usually about 30 to 38 degrees. It can also rain suddenly in the afternoon, so you should bring a light raincoat and sunscreen.

Next, about where to go. I would suggest going to Da Nang and Hoi An. Da Nang has beautiful beaches where you can swim and relax. Hoi An is an ancient town with colorful lanterns — it is very romantic and perfect for taking photos. If you have more time, you can also visit Phu Quoc Island.

Finally, about activities. You should try snorkeling to see the beautiful coral reefs under the sea. You should also visit local markets and eat fresh seafood — it is very cheap and delicious. Don’t forget to try Vietnamese coffee — I’m sure you will love it!

I’m sure you will have an amazing time in Vietnam! Write back and tell me your schedule so I can help you more.

Love, Mai

Your foreign friend loves Vietnam. Write a letter about 3 beautiful cities in Vietnam and suggest one city to visit with activities.

Dear Anna,

I’m so glad to hear that you love Vietnam! Let me tell you about three beautiful cities that you should know about.

The first city is Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. It is rich in history and culture. There are many old temples and the famous Hoan Kiem Lake. The food here is also very special, like phở and bún chả.

The second city is Da Nang. It is a modern city with stunning beaches and the famous Golden Bridge at Ba Na Hills. Many tourists love Da Nang because it is clean and beautiful.

The third city is Ho Chi Minh City, the biggest city in Vietnam. It is very vibrant and exciting. You can visit Ben Thanh Market, Notre Dame Cathedral, and enjoy the nightlife.

If I had to suggest one city, I would recommend Da Nang. The beaches like My Khe Beach are perfect for swimming. You can also take a short trip to Hoi An ancient town to see beautiful lanterns. Moreover, you should try mì Quảng — a famous local dish. And if you love nature, you can go snorkeling to see coral reefs.

I highly recommend Da Nang — you will love it! Let me know when you plan to come so I can help you.

Love, Trang
