Đề 9 — Feelings + Colors

Nguồn: Đề thi thật VSTEP B1 (12/2019 – 12/2020)

1. What things make you happy?

Many things make me happy. I feel happy when I spend time with my family, especially when we eat dinner together. I also feel happy when I listen to music or go out with my friends. Simple things in life make me the happiest.

2. Do you think people with more talent are happier?

No, I don’t think so. I believe happiness does not depend on talent. Some people are very talented but still feel stressed and lonely. In my opinion, happiness comes from having good relationships, good health, and being grateful for what we have.

3. Are you a happy person?

Yes, I think I am a happy person. I try to stay positive every day. Of course, sometimes I feel sad or worried, but I always try to look at the bright side of things. My family and friends also make me feel happy and loved.

4. Does the weather affect your feelings?

Yes, the weather definitely affects my feelings. When it is sunny, I feel more energetic and want to go outside. But when it is rainy and cloudy, I feel a bit lazy and sleepy. I think many people feel the same way.

1. What is your favorite color?

My favorite color is blue. I like blue because it makes me feel calm and peaceful. When I look at the blue sky or the blue sea, I feel very relaxed. I also like to wear blue clothes because they look nice on me.

2. Is it the same color you liked as a child?

No, it is different. When I was a child, I liked red because it was very bright and eye-catching. But as I grew up, I started to prefer softer colors like blue. I think our taste in colors changes as we get older.

3. What colors are popular among your friends?

I think black and white are the most popular colors among my friends. Most of them like to wear black or white clothes because they are easy to match with other clothes. Some of my friends also like pastel colors like pink and light blue.

4. Are there any colors you don’t like?

Yes, I don’t really like bright yellow. I think it is too strong for my eyes and it doesn’t look good on my skin. I also don’t like dark brown because it looks a bit dull and boring to me.

Your hometown holds a festival and foreign visitors come. Which role would you choose: tour guide, security MC, or traffic instructor?

I would choose to be a tour guide. I think this is the best role for me during the festival.

The first reason is that as a tour guide, I can introduce our culture, food, and history to foreign visitors. I can tell them about the meaning of the festival, the traditional activities, and the local dishes. This helps visitors understand and enjoy the festival more.

The second reason is that being a tour guide gives me a chance to practice my English. I can talk to foreign visitors and make friends with them. This is a great opportunity for me to improve my communication skills and learn about their cultures too.

I would not choose to be a security MC because this job needs professional training and special skills. I am just a student, so I am not qualified for this role. As for being a traffic instructor, it is quite boring because I would only direct traffic and have no chance to interact with the visitors or introduce our culture.

In short, being a tour guide is the best choice because I can share my culture and also practice my English.

It is necessary to study a language: better communication, job opportunities, understanding about culture.

Today, I would like to talk about why it is necessary to study a foreign language. I strongly agree with this idea, and I have three reasons.

Firstly, studying a language helps us have better communication. In today’s world, people travel and work in many countries. If we know a foreign language like English, we can talk to people from different countries easily. For example, when I travel to another country, I can ask for directions, order food, and make friends with local people.

Secondly, knowing a foreign language gives us more job opportunities. Many companies in Vietnam need employees who can speak English well. People who know a foreign language often have a higher salary and more chances to be promoted. Therefore, studying a language is very beneficial for our career.

Thirdly, studying a language helps us understand about culture. When we learn a language, we also learn about the customs, traditions, and way of life of that country. This helps us respect other cultures and become more open-minded. For instance, when I study English, I also learn about Western holidays like Christmas and Halloween.

In conclusion, I believe that studying a foreign language is very important because it helps us communicate, find better jobs, and understand the world around us.

You bought a new camera with problems, returned it, and spoke to a company representative a week ago, but it is still not repaired. Write a letter to the company to: introduce yourself, explain the problem, and request action.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I have received regarding my recent purchase of a camera from your company.

My name is Tran Minh Anh, and I purchased a Model X200 camera on May 5th from your store at 12 Nguyen Hue Street, Ho Chi Minh City. The order number is #45678. Unfortunately, the camera has several problems. The photos are blurry, and the battery drains very quickly — it only lasts about one hour.

I returned the camera to your store and spoke to a representative named Mr. Tuan on May 20th. He promised that the camera would be repaired within three days. However, it has been one week and I have not received any update or response from your company. I am very disappointed with this situation.

I would like to request that you either repair my camera immediately or replace it with a new one. If neither option is possible, I expect a full refund. I hope this matter will be resolved as soon as possible.

I look forward to your prompt response. You can reach me at 0901-234-567 or email minh.anh@email.com.

Yours faithfully, Tran Minh Anh
